Define the outcome, not only the title

Job titles vary widely between organisations. Explain what the person will own, the problems they will help solve and what good performance would look like in the first six to twelve months. This gives candidates and recruiters a more accurate picture than a long list of generic responsibilities.

Separate essential experience from skills that can be learned. When every preference becomes mandatory, capable candidates can be screened out too early.

Make the working context visible

State the location, working model, reporting relationship, team context and expected interview stages. If travel, shifts or specific availability matter, clarify them early. Transparent details reduce mismatched applications and late-stage withdrawals.

Align before sourcing begins

Hiring managers and interviewers should agree on the evaluation criteria and who will assess each area. A simple scorecard makes feedback more consistent and keeps decisions connected to the original need.

When the requirement changes, update the brief. Recruitment becomes more effective when every participant is working from the same current information.
